Star

Star is an 18 yo Morgan mare standing at 14.3 hh. This girl has a special background. She was the sole horse to an elderly man for all 18 years of her life. She was given daily treats, including popcorn. She and her owner had a very deep bond. When he fell on the ice while heading out to treat her, he broke his leg and his hip and his family deemed it not safe for him to continue her care. She lost it while he was in the hospital, even getting out multiple times trying to find him. She was taken in by a friend and then went to another friend before landing here at our ranch. She was full of anxiety. Had even made herself horse from breathing so hard while non stop pacing. I think Kaleb being a man, and very loving himself, helped her SO much. She calmed down almost as soon as he got on her back (bareback first, of course, as is Kaleb's way). We were both blown away by her handling because we honestly weren't sure if she would pull out of the depressed state she was in. We are SO thankful to be able to say that she has. It is such a gratifying experience to watch situations like this turn for good. Whomever she goes to will need to commit to being her forever home. Some horses need that commitment more than others, and she is one. We don't want her to go from one home to another again. We also think that she is more interested in having a man as her partner but that is up to the Father - a woman could also very well come out and make that lifelong connection as well.
